Is there nothing worse than trying to think of gift ideas for a husband who has everything? Christmas after Christmas, seemingly everything you think of either:
- they already have (or an alternative that achieves the same result)
- you don’t think they will want
- or they will want to choose it themselves
The secret here is to think beyond their immediate interests. Something they wouldn’t think to get for themselves. As a husband myself, I have put together a list of my top 7 fail-safe ideas to help you choose a gift that every husband should be thrilled with this Christmas.
7 fail-safe Christmas gift ideas for your husband who has everything!
1) A different experience
Experiences are fun, sharable and memorable. And when it’s different from their usual pastimes, even more so. If they are into motor sport, this is a non-motor sport experience. If they play golf every weekend, this is an experience as far away from golf as you can get. Prefably opt for an experience that you can enjoy together; that could be just you two, with familes or the family. You will find a good range of experience days here to help you find that perfect experience.
2) A weekend away
Along the same lines as the previous idea, but more involved (and a little more planning on your part!). It could be as simple as a night away somewhere close to home, or a flight away for a couple of nights getaway. Planned step-by-step or more adhoc. Camping, Airbnb or luxury hotel. Road trip, plane or train. With the kids or a recharge adult only weekend. You get the idea, there are no rules here but I guarentee he will talk about that gift for years to come.
3) A new outfit
There are bound to be exceptions but on the whole I think it’s safe to say most husbands don’t really relish the idea of clothes shopping. And so a new outfit makes for a perfect gift. He will appreciate the time and thought you have employed in choosing the new outfit for him, and he will look nice for you!
4) Something to up his BBQ game
Husbands are fanatic about BBQ. Whether they are just starting out or a seasoned pro, BBQ is something every husband strives to be better at. Don’t think it stops at just getting the BBQ itself; there are different types of fuel to experiment with (gas, charcoal or wood), usually various accessories for his chosen BBQ (e.g. different cooking grates), rotisseries, BBQ recipe books, cooking tools and much more.
I think you can’t go far wrong with Weber who have been celebrating perfect BBQs since 1952. Here is a selection from Weber to get you started:
First the BBQ itself. I recommend going for the Weber 57cm Master-Touch Charcoal Kettle Barbecue BBQ, because it comes with the “Gourmet BBQ System” meaning there are lots of interchangeable cooking grates and accessories available allowing for versatile cooking.
For example, you can add the Rotisserie Ring 57 CM Stainless Steel (fits all Weber 57 CM Kettles) on to this BBQ. Or this Weber Gourmet BBQ System Pizza Stone.
To get the BBQ started, this Weber Chimney Starter is invaluable. It gives you evenly burning coal in just 20mins, ready to pour into your BBQ and start cooking.
You will need some tools to work with the food without burning yourself. I use this Weber 3 piece stainless steel tool set myself. And this handy Weber Charcoal Tool Holder to hang the tools on the rim of the BBQ.
And for BBQ recipe inspiration, Weber’s Complete BBQ Book: Step-by-step advice and over 150 delicious barbecue recipes is a must have.
5) His favourite tipple
Don’t underestimate this one; it may be simple but is always going to be well received. Particularly if you can make it unique. For example, if he likes single malt whiskey, try and find one he has not had before (there are hundreds out there - nowadays many are easily available on Amazon). He’ll say “wow, how, when, where did you find this?!”. And whenever he goes to pour himself one, he will remember it’s that special gift from you.
You could take this one a step further and source the right glass, which makes all the difference. Most beers have their own glass to perfectly compliment that particular beer. A crystal tumbler (such as Waterford Lismore Connoisseur Straight Crystal Tumbler 7oz Pair) for whiskeys, and a Martini glass for, well, Martini.
6) A new watch
Beyond their wedding band, jewellery can be a tough nut to crack where husbands are concerned. We don’t really wear much jewellery and so your options are rather limited. That said, a watch is a solid gift that will be used daily for years to come if not a lifetime. And everytime they check the time, they will be reminded of you! Find a wide selection of men’s watches here so you should be able to find the perfect watch for your husband.
We tend to default to looking externally for gifts, but don’t underestimate the power of you! Your husband loves you, so why not incorporate yourself into his gift?! Again, like the other ideas here, think different to the norm. What wouldn’t he expect? Send him a flirty text during the day with some idea of what awaits him at home tonight. You could even treat yourself to something new in the process which is ultimately a gift for him but nice for you too so a win-win. Have fun with it!
So there you have it, 7 fail-safe ideas that even husbands who seemingly have everything will be overjoyed with.
